What is Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga Yoga is a traditional and structured practice in which movement is linked with breath and attention. The sequence remains consistent, allowing the practice to become familiar over time and creating space for deeper awareness, concentration, and presence.
The word Ashtanga means “eight limbs”, referring to the path of yoga described by the sage Patanjali. These teachings include not only physical postures, but also breath awareness, meditation, self-discipline, and the cultivation of a steady and balanced mind.
Through regular practice, the body gradually becomes stronger and more open, while the mind learns focus, patience, and consistency. Rather than relying on constant variation, the repetition of the sequence allows the practice to become grounding, meditative, and deeply personal.
Traditionally, Ashtanga Yoga is practised regularly and with continuity, encouraging students to develop sensitivity towards their own body, breath, and inner experience. Students are always invited to practise in a way that feels supportive and appropriate for them.
